Menotai is a freedom fighter, raging war on the roman occupants. He was created to help us tackle skin shading, skin detailing and served as an inital test on facial animation. My role was lead artist of the character team.

Other than Benjamin and Ruben, Menotai is sculpted by me, using a basemesh. Focus was the face. We needed to experiment on Facial expression, so this character was the start of my experiments in facial blendshapes. Baking of Textures by me, low poly created by using the basemesh and ZWrap to get a clean model. Additional UV support by Anette Heydemann. Albedo and mask textures by Lasse Heyer and Anette Heydemann.
Clothing done by me. Pattern done in Marvelous Designer, over sculpted in ZBrush, retopo in Maya, maps baked in Substance. Cloth shader done with Johannes Pfeifer and Joel Meyer.
Shading was created based on the Unreal Skin Material, altered by Joel Meyer, authored, and tweaked by Johannes Pfeifer and me. We also experimented on a tileable detailnormal approach mixed with a flow map to improve performance.
